La Palma is 25 years old so everything is dated. Older cabintry, older landscaping, and older buildings. But the neighbors are nice. The pools are smaller compared to most of the newer apartments around Phoenix but there are 4 to chhose from. Management needs to cut down and trim alot of the growth around the complex to make look nicer and safer. The lighting is not adequate enough and the rock landscaping should be replaced and updated. The a/c in the apartments is loud because they are older but its bearable. Some units are louder than others. They are supposed to have security driving around or walking around but I've never seen anyone waslking or driving around in the 2 months I've been here. Also, it is a gated complex but the gates don't work. They say they are working on getting the gates fixed but I think its just an excuse not to fix them because they have been wide open since the 2 months I've been here. I've have reported some maintenance issuses to management and they said if its not an emergency that they would fix the issues with-in 72 hours but I have not seen or heard from anyone for over a week. When the maintenance people did come by to look at the a/c they said they would be back the next day and never showed up. They could improve on alot of little things here which should not cost them very much money like trimming the bushes and trees and cleaning the parking areas and fixing the lighting or even putting fences around the dumpsters so you don't hav to look at the trash that overflows out of the dumpsters. That's basic cosmetic stuff that would make the community more appealing and safer for its residence. If you are used to a house and need to move to an apartment the 1 and 2 bedroom units are small but the 3 bedroom is bigger but you pay a premium for it. When we went to look at them initially they told us that they did not have any models to show and most people rent site unseen because of how nice they are but I think that's a lie. They are plenty of vacant units here that they could fix up and make 2 or 3 models for perspective renters. All in all, the units are older but decent. The landscaping needs alot of work and updating and the lighting needs to fixed everywhere. Oh, and the hot tub behind the main office has been broke for months and I don't they have plans on fixing that either. But the people are nice. You decide.
