Apartment Review for La Esplanada Apartments - Phoenix, AZ

I moved into apartment #130 which was a three bedroom apartment and Barbara Adams (The Manager) told me that they could not rent the apartment because it backed up to the maintenace year and that she would let me have it for 925.00 plus tax because I needed a room for my sone. When I was moving in I found rat dropping in the cabinets. I called the Manager Barbara Adams and she had some one come in and put rat poison in my apartment. But she did not have her cleaning people come in and clean the apartment. When I there after work the dropping was still in the cabinets. I saw her leaving after work and she stopped me and ask be about them (she did not believe me) I ask her to get out of her car and come and take a look, but she was leaving and she would not take the time to check for her self, she just told me that not one else had ever had any problems but me. I had to clean them out myself after paying the 941.00. Then the next week I got up in the morning and I had ants all over the counters and floor. I called and left her a message on Wednesday morning, but when I got home on Thursday I saw her and she said she did not get my message. First she told me that she was out of the office on Wednesday becasue she had a car accident, then she change she story and couldn't make her mine up if she was in the office in the morning or afternoon. I called maintance tryed to tell him about it but he told me if it was not an emergency that I had to wait until next Tuesday until the exterminator came in. I called my husband and when he got there I called the maintance man again and asked him what I was to do. He started yelling at me because I called him after 5:00 and he was off work. The next day someone came in and sprayed something all over the apartment including my dishes and food. I called Barbara Adams the next day and she told me that by law they had 14 days to anything about my problem. But since that were so )(nice) they sprayed the ants for me. I ask her for a copy of that law and she said she would get it for me, but as of today April 22, 2004 I have not receive one. I called and asked her and she told me that she talk with my husband and things for settle. I told her that I was the one that asked for it not my husband, but she refused to give it to me and also told me that I could not get out of my lease because of that. I told her I wanted to call the healt department and find out what kind of law that was when renter had to pay as much as I did. She called me a lair that I did not report the ants to her until Thursday when I had called on Wednesday and left a message. I will be reporting La Esplanada apartments and Barbara Adams to the healt departments. If they are going to rent apartment #130 out they should clean up the maintance yard, because it has old stove and all kind of junk behind it. I tryed to tell her but she would not talk to me about it, told me she had another call and told me to go ahead and report them. Which I plan on doing. But my advise to anyone who is thinking about renting an apartment at La Esplanda think twice. They advise them as luxury apartments but the one I have seen are nothing be dumps. I learn my lesson the hard way, so take note and don't rent one of them apartment.
